Destination Marketing Project

As Iloilo positions to become a major player in Meetings, Incentive travel, Convention and Exhibitions or MICE Tourism with APEC this year, we implemented the Destination Marketing Project last year together with the Canadian Government through the Local Government Support Program (LGSP-LED).

Customer Service

About 300 participants from all sectors of society from barangay captains, traffic enforcers, policemen, tourism officers, travel and tour operators, tour guides, wait staff and hotel personnel participated in various trainings implemented by Iloilo Business Club in partnership with LGSP-LED, Canadian Embassy Manila and the Department of Tourism VI.

Faculty and resource speakers from Central Philippine University conducted training in five (5) batches on Customer Service for Tourism and tourism related practitioners. This is to prepare the stakeholders for M.I.C.E tourism as Iloilo hosts several ministerial meetings of the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) in 2015.

Diplomatic Protocol

Faculty and resource speakers from the University of San Agustin conducted training in five (5) batches on Diplomatic Protocols for Tourism and tourism related practitioners. This is to prepare the stakeholders for M.I.C.E tourism as Iloilo hosts several ministerial meetings of the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) in 2015.

 Food and Beverage Service

About 300 management representatives, waiters and wait staff from Hotels and Restaurants were given refresher course on food and beverage service at the University of San Agustin as part of the Destination Marketing Project being implemented by Iloilo Business Club in partnership with LGSP-LED, and the Canadian Embassy Manila.

International Cuisine

About 26 Chefs and Cooks and from local hotels and restaurants in Iloilo and Guimaras participated in this 5 weekend session on international cuisine familiarization organized by Iloilo Business Club in partnership with LGSP-LED, Canadian Embassy Manila, the University of San Agustin and the Department of Tourism. Celebrity Chefs Claude Tayag, Jessie Sincioco and Chef Jill Sandique graced the culminating event where they shared industry knowledge and encouragement to all the participants.

Culinary Tourism 101

Exploring the potentials of Iloilo to develop the culinary market, Ms. Rebecca LeHeup, Executive Director for the Ontario Culinary Tourism was invited to speak to tourism stakeholders about their best practices and how Ilonggos can organize to create culinary tourism programs. This activity is part of the Destination Marketing Project being implemented by Iloilo Business Club in partnership with LGSP-LED, and the Canadian Embassy Manila.
